Moving from trainee to account director within four years, he manages a client portfolio that includes top 20 accountancy firms, top 50 UK law firms and major property advisory businesses. Last year, Donahue won 75 per cent of new business pitches in which he was involved.
The secret to being a good comms pro in 2019 is... The ability to spot a story. It doesn't matter what channels you're using to tell, or influence, that story – online or offline – the fundamental trait that clients value from PRs is that we know what's going to make audiences, including journalists, sit up, take notice and influence opinion.
If I could change anything about the PR industry, it would be... PR professionals moving higher up the strategic food chain. There's increasing boardroom awareness of reputation as an asset, and a source of potential risk, but that needs to be matched by comms professionals getting a seat at the top table and influencing the business strategies that directly impact reputation.
I'm inspired by... Grafters. People who've carved their own path to achievement, regardless of industry. At the same time, working with complex b2b businesses I'm always somewhat in awe of the depth of knowledge of our clients, and my colleagues at Infinite Global who have to grasp that same highly technical subject matter!
If I wasn't in PR, I'd be... Probably looking for a job in PR… But I'd likely have stayed in academia and been a penniless historian!
