From intern in North America in January 2015 to account director in London in April 2019, Daughtrey has demonstrated "dramatic" career progression in four-and-a-half years, Weber says. She has helped influence the expansion of the analytics team from four to 12 members, has led the increased use of analytics in health and B2B clients, and regularly runs trainings across EMEA.
The secret to being a good comms pro in 2019 is... Get outside your bubble: the best ideas come from a place of discomfort. Stay curious: Ask "why?" a lot, and don't be afraid. Be humble (like Kendrick): Remember those around you, even the most junior, have a lot to teach you. Maintain perspective: Remember it's PR, not ER.
If I could change anything about the PR industry, it would be... Raise the floor. We have a serious diversity problem in our industry, and we can't PR our way out of it. We need to recognise the problem. The only way to truly break the glass ceiling is by investing in diverse junior talent, and collectively raising the floor up.
I'm inspired by... Travel. For work and for play. It awakens your senses, gets you uncomfortable and forces you to re-think values, while still reminding you of the commonality in humanity. Travel makes your life richer.
If I wasn't in PR, I'd be... On the ground, conducting healthcare research in developing countries. This was my role prior to joining Weber. My research championed a new approach to malaria prevention through local influencers & cultural insights. It's amazing how these skills translate across borders …note, I'd also teach yoga on a beach.
