Being deplatformed has been "awesome" for Alex Jones. That’s what Jones, who was banned from multiple platforms for violating hate-speech policies last year, said when he appeared on YouTuber Logan Paul’s podcast "Impaulsive" Wednesday night. Jones said his fans "get the underdog thing" and are now visiting his sites Infowars.com and Newswars.com and "hearing what I say, not the short edits. It has backfired." Paul posted a video of the podcast recording session to YouTube. The Verge journalist Julia Alexander live-tweeted the broadcast.
WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has been arrested by London police at the Ecuadorian Embassy in the British capital. Assange has been holed up in the embassy since 2012, but was evicted after Ecuador dropped his asylum status. (CBS News)
Netflix is planning its first magazine with the working title Wide. The 100-plus page inaugural issue will promote its programs and stars ahead of this year’s Emmys. Last year, Netflix hired veteran publicist Lisa Taback to oversee its awards operation, and the company recently hired Vanity Fair editor Krista Smith to assist. (Bloomberg)
An influencer is born. Jeffree Star brand lipstick got a dream review on Wednesday when a fan tweeted about how well the product held up during a car accident she was in. Twitter user Taryn Elise (@Voltaireon) tweeted, "I was just in a car accident and there are lipstick marks on the airbag but my face is OK." She included photos to prove that her lipstick was barely smudged. Star retweeted the post and offered to send Elise a makeup palette to cheer her up.
