Deputy features editor Jon Peake is leaving in November to become deputy editor of the H Bauer title and its sister, TV Choice, which have a combined circulation of 1.3 million per week.
His departure means The Sun's new appointee will be in charge of features until the beginning of 2003 at least - Peake has been covering for the maternity leave of The TVmag features editor Tricia Martin, who joined the title two years ago. Martin is due back at The Sun in January.
'I will be doing slightly different things, working across TV Choice and TV Quick as well. It's a step up for me, a new challenge,' Peake said of his new role.
The TVmag editor, Jonathan Worsnop, declined to comment on the departure although it is believed he has rejected a wholesale editorial restructure.
A replacement will be announced in the next two months. Peake, who will have been at The Sun for two years by the time he leaves, replaces Jonathan Bowman who left TV Quick this week to become editor of IPC's TV & Satellite Week.
Peake will report to Lori Miles, editor of both TV Quick and TV Choice.
Clair Woodward will cover Bowman's duties until the arrival of Peake.
Bowman has been at TV Quick for just five months.
He has been at IPC before, most recently as special projects editor at IPC tx in 2000.
Peake has spent his career to date writing about TV. Before joining The Sun, he was at Redwood Publishing, working on Sky Customer Magazine.
Peake, Bowman and Martin have also all worked for Inside Soap. Owner Attic Futura this week announced it is to publish under the name Hachette Filipacchi in future.
