Breakfast Briefing: LinkedIn's most desired companies to work for

They're almost all in Silicon Valley. (No wonder the rent's so high).

Do Big Tech’s reputational issues mean a brain drain for Silicon Valley? Certainly not, according to LinkedIn’s 2019 rankings of the companies users most want to work for. Alphabet, Facebook, Amazon, and Salesforce were the top four most-desirable employers, and Uber, Apple, Airbnb, Oracle, and Dell were in the top 10. Marketing holding companies Interpublic Group (31), Publicis Groupe (34), and WPP (40) made the list for the first time.

Look, we all know your bracket is busted, unless you’re a huge fan of the Auburn Tigers or Charles Barkley’s in-studio antics. So shrug it off and join the voting in a different bracket: PRWeek’s "One Shining Slogan" tournament. It’s up to you to decide who advances to the next round. Voting is only open until the end of the day.

Look who just joined Twitter: besieged former Nissan leader Carlos Ghosn. The one-time auto-industry superstar tweeted in both Japanese and English that he’s planning a press conference for next Thursday "to tell the truth about what’s happening." However, Ghosn’s plans for truth-telling could be short-lived, with reports that he could be arrested again before the press conference.

Arms crossed, "hard no" emoji. Facebook has reportedly been asking some users for the passwords to their personal email accounts, despite the company acknowledging it’s not so good with data privacy. Security experts pointed out what should be obvious by saying forking over passwords to Facebook is not a good idea.

President Donald Trump and White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders have been walking back threats to close the U.S. border with Mexico, shortly after the president kicked theoretical healthcare reform way down the road until after the 2020 elections. Never underestimate the impact that surging avocado prices can have on public opinion.
