The monthly show is hosted by the Middle East PR Association (MEPRA) and produced by international broadcast specialist, markettiers.

The first episode focuses on women in leadership where MEPRA chair Jonty Summers speaks to H+K Strategies MD Lisa Welsh and Tabreed VP Souad Alserkal to discuss their challenges and opportunities as women leaders in PR.

Award-winning academic Dr Payyazhi Jayashree from the University of Wollongong Dubai also weighs in as an expert in gender equality to explore how we can achieve a gender-balanced boardroom.

While you will hear from Lisa and Souad about their journeys working their way to the top as PR leaders, Dr Jayashree offers insight on why the majority of women are not reaching c-suite and executive-level positions.

"My research started in 2015 as an outcome of a National Research Foundation industry research collaboration research grant with the Dubai Business Women Council and UNDP," she says. "The focus was on understanding the factors impacting the emergence and enactment of leadership among women in the UAE. We tried to identify the various causes for pipeline blocks and one key finding was that any attempt in addressing a pipeline block for women in leadership must take a contextually relevant approach that is holistic and multi-level."

She added: "Much has been written about stereotype and prejudice being one of the reasons why women are not really reaching the c-suite and executive-level positions, but that is a minimal view to look at the entire problem.

"What we have identified through our research was that there are a variety of factors, from how you socialise within your family environment to the critical experiences that you get growing through schooling, early career experiences, [and the] mentoring you receive."
