PRWeek UK Power Book 2019: New entry heads list of top charity comms pros

There's a new entry at the summit of the PRWeek UK Power Book list of top 10 charity comms professionals, with Sarah Woolnough of Cancer Research topping the table.

The charity comms list is published today – check out the full top ten here – and follows the launch of the UK Power Book earlier this week.

Woolnough (pictured), executive director of policy and information, is a crucial player at the UK’s biggest charity, overseeing a team of around 400 and managing a senior leadership team of six directors.

In addition to communications, she has responsibility for policy, public affairs and campaigning; patient and public engagement; the statistics and analysis teams, and more.

This year Woolnough marks 14 years at Cancer Research, performing various roles in that time.

Last year Cancer Research was represented by director of comms Peter Zarko-Flynn, who has since departed the charity and his role subsumed into Woolnough’s.

The UK Power Book is an extensive list of the most influential and respected comms professionals in the UK today.

The guide, complete with Q&As from each of the nearly 400 entrants, is available online:
