McGregor-Paterson has more than 30 years’ experience in the health and wellbeing sector, including senior management roles at Ogilvy Public Relations, Paradigm Communications, Porter Novelli, Shire Health and Weber Shandwick.

He has spent the past three years as director of comms at the campaigning organisation NHS Health Alliance, alongside various freelance roles.

In his new job McGregor-Paterson will report to Nick Leonard, Ruder Finn’s UK managing director. He has been asked to develop the agency’s healthcare business, expanding the team, increasing the diversity of client services, and helping clients navigate the huge political and economic shifts they face.

Commenting on the appointment, Leonard said: "Neil’s mix of agency experience and real-world expertise will help us take our proposition to the next level."

He added: "Coming off the back of a successful 2018 we have great momentum. Neil is exactly the right person to ensure we maintain momentum, continue to enhance our proposition and deliver the highest-quality services to our clients."

McGregor-Paterson said: "The agency’s forward-thinking approach, and ability to react quickly and decisively to change, is essential in times like these. These foundations will allow me to bring new thinking and compelling services to our current and future clients."
