FTSE100-listed St James's Place hires first external comms director

FTSE100-listed St James's Place Wealth Management has hired Jamie Dunkley as its first external comms director - with his former employer, TP ICAP, hiring ex-Old Mutual head of corporate affairs William Baldwin-Charles in his place, PRWeek has learned.

Dunkley (pictured) reports directly to CEO Andrew Croft in his new position at St James’s Place, which manages funds for clients worth £95.6bn and employs around 4,000 advisers. The company, which uses Brunswick and Lansons for PR, has not previously employed anyone in comms to this level of seniority.

Dunkley previously spent more than two years at TP ICAP, the FTSE250-listed intermediary in the financial, energy and commodities markets, where he was group media and internal communications director.

Baldwin-Charles has now joined TP ICAP as director of media relations and external communications. He reports to group corporate affairs director Rebecca Shelley, who held the same role at Tesco until her departure in 2016.

Baldwin-Charles was formerly head of corporate affairs at Old Mutual. That role became defunct with a restructure of the company last year.

St James’s Place Wealth Management declined to comment. TP ICAP had not responded at the time of publication.
