MEDIA: Langmead named as Wallpaper* chief

Style magazine Wallpaper* has appointed Jeremy Langmead as editor-in-chief.

Langmead is to join within the next two months from London's Evening Standard, where he has been Life & Style section editor for ten months.

The hire comes as Wallpaper* reveals plans to boost its fashion coverage.

From the next issue, on sale on 19 September, the bi-monthly title will double the space it devotes to fashion items.

'New editorial propositions' are also planned, but details are undisclosed.

From 1995 to 2000 Langmead edited The Sunday Times's Style supplement.

After that he edited IPC's now-defunct women's fashion title Nova, before returning to The Sunday Times as editor-at-large of its magazine.

Langmead has also worked on Tatler and Elle Decoration.

The former editor of Wallpaper* was Tyler Brule, who left in May this year to devote himself to his creative consultancy, Wink, full-time.

Since Brule left, Christina Ferrari, the founder of US mag Teen People, has been acting editorial director, but she is now leaving the title to live overseas.

- Wallpaper* will produce a Global Fashion Directory in March 2003. As a result, the spring issue of Wallpaper* sister title, Spruce, will not appear.
