Lexis hands Meredith sponsorships role

Lexis PR has appointed Chris Meredith as its first head of sponsorship.

Meredith, who began client-facing work last week and reports to CEO Hugh Birley, has worked over the past year as a freelance consultant, mainly in sports, as well as the arts.

Before that he spent two years as director of football at sports sponsorship and marketing firm Premier, now part of the WPP group.

Lexis handles PR for Barclaycard's Premiership sponsorship, Thomson's sponsorship of Tottenham Hotspur and the Powergen Rugby Cup.

'At Premier my work was pure brokering. I want to focus on in the creative development and implementation of sponsorships,' said Meredith.

'We want to find sponsorship opportunities for existing Lexis clients as well as seeking new clients,' he added.

Meredith plans to win business from firms new to the sponsorship industry or those firms who need 'creative assistance' with existing deals.

Before Premier, Meredith spent two years as European business development director at Octagon Marketing. Prior to that he was business development director at sports and entertainment firm CSS Stellar.
