MEDIA: Morris takes PA digital sports editor job

Press Association has created a new position - digital sports editor - to oversee the news agency's editorial output on internet, SMS, WAP and other platforms.

Andy Morris joins PA from the TEAMtalk 252 radio station, where he edited his own sports show.

He will report to PA sports editorial director Andy Elliott, and works within PA's Sport Direct department, which, Elliott said 'handles "non-traditional products and customers, ranging from features for magazines to SMS messages. We are increasingly dealing with telcos and websites and anyone looking for digital content. It all happens very quickly in the digital world.'

Morris, who previously edited two sports sites, Express SportLive and Worldsport.com, will work with telecoms companies to develop content on various platforms. 'We have journalists from a new media background, but no-one as steeped in a new media background as him. Despite the slump, we have a strong internet business,' Elliott added.

Morris's remit includes domestic and international sports feeds, web hosting, SMS, MMS and digital video and audio bulletins.
