Red Cube chosen to promote fcuk brand of alcopops

French Connection has hired Manchester-based agency Red Cube to handle PR for its vodka-based drinks range Spirit, which launched last year.

The agency has won the account after a competitive pitch that included two other Manchester agencies, Push PR and Spin.

Gawen Higgins is to head a four-strong team. He said that although Red Cube is still planning its promotional strategy, it is expected to include a number of 'guerilla elements' to boost publicity and target the 18- to 30-year-old age group.

The drink's fcuk brand name has already incurred criticism from the Advertising Standards Authority, whose code prevents any alcoholic brand being associated with sex in its advertising.
