Govt Office West Midlands to raise EU grants' profile

The body responsible for distributing £800m of European Union funds to improve standards of living in the West Midlands is on the hunt for PR assistance.

Government Office West Midlands, which is tasked with distributing EU Structural Funds over the next seven years, is tendering for PR support to promote the availability of the funds and their subsequent benefits.

A GOWM spokesperson confirmed the work would centre around ensuring that information about the funding was communicated to the public and media, as well as overseeing internal comms.

She added that non-local PR agencies would not be disadvantaged in the pitch process.

The funds are distributed to private bodies through applications to the GOWM and form part of both the European Regional Development Fund and the European Social Fund.

The purpose of the funds is to provide investment to create or maintain jobs and provide education and training in less affluent areas of the 15 EU member states.
