ITV to replace Tyrrell with Celador press head Settle

ITV has recruited Ruth Settle, head of press at Celador - the producer of one of its most popular shows, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? - as its PR chief.

Settle will leave Celador, where she reports directly to CEO Paul Smith, to join ITV within two months.

Her appointment follows the departure last month of Paul Tyrrell from the ITV role. Tyrrell left to become communications director for the Merseyside Fire Service.

Settle declined to comment on the challenge of reversing a run of negative publicity, most notably surrounding the collapse of ITV Digital and a spate of poor ratings.

Reporting to ITV director of corporate affairs Nicola Howson, Settle will lead a nine-strong team and will handle liaison with programme PROs, as well as trade PR and integrated PR campaigns.

Settle joined Celador two years ago and has previously worked for Talk Radio and as unit publicist for the BBC soap Eastenders.

Meanwhile, Granada TV has appointed a PRO to work exclusively for daytime show This Morning for the first time. Anna Mason will assume the role later this month, joining from Telewest's content division, Flextech, where she handles PR for the UK Style channel.

PR for the show was previously part of the brief of PRO Ben Webster, who will now handle PR for the forthcoming series Popstars The Rivals.

Zoe McIntyre, Granada head of press, added that a further PR post has also been filled, with Debbie Wilson joining from Premier Maxworks to handle PR for Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway and a forthcoming prime-time dating show called Mr Right.
