He will continue his role as a creative strategist but on a global scale, working with other H+K offices and clients to help them develop creative and strategic campaigns to "the highest level".
Shaw joined H+K in 2014 as CCO in its Centre of Creative Strategy and has helped transform the London office by strengthening its creative output for clients such as Huawei, Coca Cola and Envision. H+K said he helped the firm redefine its client proposition.
In the past year, H+K has undergone a global leadership restructure after its content division SJR was spun off as a separate entity within the WPP group.
EMEA bosses Richard Millar and Lars Erik Grønntun became global presidents, reporting jointly to Jack Martin, who remains global chairman and CEO.
Sam Lythgoe was elevated to drive global marketing and business development, Kate Augustine leads global HR and Talent, and Vikki Willimott runs content and publishing.
"Simon is a brilliant creative strategist. He is obsessed with the delivery of truly excellent, award-winning client work," Millar said.
"Having known him for over a decade, and worked with him for five years, I believe that the impact he will bring on a global stage will be transformative for our business and for our clients."
Shaw added: "In today’s ever-changing world we need to constantly change the way we engage our clients’ public. Our creativity and innovative thinking is essential to achieve this. I look forward to working with my H+K colleagues around the world to develop transformative campaigns that deliver maximum impact for our clients."
Shaw is a well-respected creative leader and served as Cannes Lions juror in 2011 and D&AD jury president in 2017.
Prior to joining H+K in 2014, he was executive creative director and head of content at Good Relations and previously worked as creative director and global brand director at Exposure.
