The conference, to take place in London on 25 September, has been called for by council PROs who face dealing with potentially damning inspection reports on all services, including PR.
LG Comms secretary Michael Baker said PROs should view the assessment scheme as an opportunity to push the business case for PR to CEOs, reinforcing its role as 'the guardian of the council's reputation.'
Inspection reports of single tier and county authorities will be published later this year. District council inspections follow next year.
The scheme has been heavily criticised by the LGA. At its conference earlier this month, councillors felt the scheme should focus more on improvement rather than league tables.
