NEW YORK: Prosek Partners has hired Karen Le Cannu as MD.

Le Cannu is joining the firm in January. She will initially be based in London until she relocates to New York in March 2019, according to a Prosek representative. Prosek has more than 100 staffers in New York and 14, including Le Cannu, in London.

The clients she’ll be handling have not been determined yet. She will report to one of the firm’s partners.

Le Cannu will have responsibility for business development, leading client accounts, and contributing to Prosek’s business generally. She will handle work around issues management, crises, capital markets transactions, and raising corporate profiles, a rep said.

Previously, Le Cannu was the head of external comms for HSBC’s global banking division, providing comms support for transactions, corporate news, and issues management. Over the summer, she helped with comms on the launch of My Deal, an app that allows HSBC bankers to access all the information related to a transaction in one place, a rep said.

Prior to that, Le Cannu worked at Powerscourt, a London-based comms firm, for 10 years. Before that, she was an analyst at the Bank of England, according to her LinkedIn profile.

For four years, Prosek has been on a double-digit growth streak. In 2016, it acquired Los Angeles-based Muirfield Partners. Earlier this year, the firm opened a Boston office with eight staffers at launch.  And in April, Prosek invested in a financial PR boutique called Profile Advisors, led by former Edelman vets.
