President Donald Trump has reportedly asked the State Department’s chief comms official Heather Nauert to be the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations. Based on information from a "senior administration official," Trump has extended the offer, Fox News reported on Thursday. It is not clear yet if Nauert, a former Fox News correspondent, has accepted it. She would replace Nikki Haley.
An unidentified San Francisco 49ers cheerleader took a knee during the national anthem, before Thursday night's game against the Oakland Raiders, according to media reports. She is believed to be the first NFL cheerleader to protest during the anthem. The 49ers are the former team of Colin Kaepernick, the quarterback who started the practice of protesting social injustice by kneeling during the anthem. Google’s CEO issued a mea culpa, while employees staged global walkouts to protest the company’s mishandling of sexual misconduct allegations. At The New York Times' DealBook conference in New York on Thursday afternoon, Google CEO Sundar Pichai said, "It’s been a difficult time here. There’s been anger and frustration within the company. We all feel it. I feel it too. At Google, we set a very high bar, and we clearly didn’t live up to our expectations." He said "concrete steps" are coming, but hesitated to say that Google has a toxic culture.
56 major companies to Trump: We stand for transgender rights. Companies including Google, Nike, Apple, and Facebook sent a letter Thursday to the Trump administration opposing any federal policy changes that define gender as based on one’s biological sex at birth.
