SAN FRANCISCO: Collective Health has hired Apple’s Laura Newell as its head of communications.
Based in San Francisco, Newell is reporting to marketing lead Sarahjane Sacchetti and handling internal and external comms and overseeing five direct reports. She started in the role in early October.
Her predecessor was Nicole Colwell, who started in the role in March 2017, according to her LinkedIn account. She left the company in early fall, according to a spokesperson.
Collective Health, which works with Bite Global, describes itself as an innovator that can untangle legacy technology left over in employer insurance using its own workforce health-management system. Since it was founded in 2013, Collective Health has raised $230 million with funding from Google Ventures, NEA, Founders Fund, and others.
Collective’s clients include Restoration Hardware, eBay, Pinterest, ZenDesk, Palantir, Red Bull, and Activision Blizzard.
"[Healthcare] ought to be simple, transparent, and something that can be trusted," Newell said. "People deserve better than the status quo. I was drawn to [Collective Health’s] passion for challenging that and changing the healthcare experience."
Newell joined Collective Health from Apple, where she led comms for iOS, iCloud, Apple Pay, and other software products, according to her LinkedIn account. Previously, she was the tech practice lead at Allison+Partners.
