NEW YORK: SoftBank Group has hired former Time Warner and News Corp. executive Gary Ginsberg as its global communications chief.
Ginsberg is set to join the company as SVP and global head of communications on Thursday. He will be based in New York and report to chairman and CEO Masayoshi Son and Marcelo Claure, director, EVP, COO of SoftBank and CEO of SoftBank Group International.
Ginsberg will be responsible for overseeing corporate comms strategy and initiatives and managing the company’s global internal and external comms. He will also work closely with SoftBank’s global portfolio of companies.
Ginsberg was previously EVP of corporate marketing and communications at Time Warner. Prior, he worked at News Corp. for 11 years, most recently as EVP of global marketing and corporate affairs. Earlier in his career, Ginsberg was senior editor and counsel of the political magazine George and served in roles in the White House counsel’s office and the Justice Department during the Clinton administration.
Tokyo-based holding company SoftBank Group was no. 85 on the 2017 Fortune global 500 with revenue of more than $82.6 billion.
