NEW YORK: Finn Partners has acquired Missy Farren & Associates, the firms said on Tuesday morning.
Missy Farren, founder and CEO of the eponymous firm, will become a managing partner at Finn Partners, and all 20 of her employees will move into Finn Partners’ New York office next year.
Peter Finn, founding partner of Finn Partners, said the deal was signed last week.
"Missy and I met about a year ago," said Finn. "[M&A consultant] Rick Gould is a good friend of both of ours, and he introduced us and the conversation evolved over the course of year."
Finn said the acquisition is adding a complementary practice area to his firm.
"One of the things I find very attractive about Missy Farren is their expertise in sports and outdoors," he said. "That’s a fantastic addition for us. We had simply not had that. They have deep expertise in that area. This is a logical step for us."
Farren has clients in travel and hospitality, consumer products, sports and adventure, wellness, and nonprofit areas.
She said the deal will give her clients reach they wouldn’t have otherwise.
"Next year would be our 25th year," Farren explained. "In order for our clients to have more resources, we needed to figure out how to grow. Finn not only has great people, it is global, and has grown, and they have capabilities we simply don’t. They have the reach along with data and creative and 16 offices worldwide. We have clients asking ‘What can you do for us in London?’ and ‘What can you do in Asia?’ and now we have a good answer."
Early this year, Finn acquired Brighter Group in London, extending its travel practice to the U.K. Finn Partners saw a 5% jump in revenue in 2017 to $81.9 million.
In the past three years, Finn Partners has acquired ABI Marketing Public Relations and Washington, DC-based Greenfield Belser, among other deals. Stagwell Group, the investment advisory firm founded by former Burson-Marsteller CEO Mark Penn in 2015, took an investment in Finn Partners in September 2016.
