PUBLIC SECT0R: DTI plans autumn push to encourage SMEs to seek help

The Department of Trade and Industry will launch a fresh PR push in the autumn as part of its campaign to encourage small businesses to seek advice.

The DTI's Small Business Service wants to use media and stakeholder relations to make sure that those who run SMEs are aware of the help available.

A major part of the campaign will be to promote the SBS's Business Link Service, which offers advice on regulation, training and business improvement.

Agency QBO has been hired to assist the DTI and SBS in-house teams, following a COI-managed six-way pitch. QBO replaces GCI, whose contract had expired.

The SBS was launched two years ago with the aim of boosting small business revenues and representing the needs of small business in government.

QBO director Alister Martin will lead the account, reporting to SBS head of comms Adrian Cadwallader and CEO Martin Wyn Griffith.
