Specsavers Wales and Ulster jobs for Life and Peterson

Specsavers Opticians has appointed Life Communications and the Peterson Partnership to handle its PR in Northern Ireland and Wales.

Life Communications won the Ulster brief, following a two-way pitch with Weber Shandwick. It replaces Carmah Communications, which did not repitch.

In Wales Peterson Partnership takes over from Equinox, which did pitch.

Both agencies report to head of PR Jo Moody and press office managerJohn Clarke.

Moody said the change was part of a five-yearly review into its regional network of agencies.

The agencies are briefed with positioning Specsavers as 'the local optician', according to Moody. In Northern Ireland there are 11 branches, with the first opening a decade ago.

Life MD Darlene McCormick is handling the account. She said: 'This is about promoting national campaigns with a local feel. The stores, their staff and what they do are important in promoting this client.'

Specsavers breaks its English regional PR up into TV regions.

Beattie Media, of which Life is an affiliate, supports national Scottish PR as well as work in the Central, Granada and Tyne Tees areas.

Target covers the Central region with Equinox retaining the Central South patch.
