The investment bank is to review all marcoms -- including internal communications, CSR, marketing and media relations -- both in terms of structure and senior staff line-ups.
DB is considering restructuring communications to sit either along business lines or regional practices, with a view to ensuring all global PR teams are better synchronised.
A DB spokesman said: 'The bank is constantly evolving and we are looking at whether or not we ought to maintain the current structure. All of the communications functions are being looked at.'
The move comes as newly appointed chairman Josef Ackermann and chief spokesman Simon Pincombe take up their posts this week.
Pincombe, formerly head of international press work for the corporate and investment banking arm of the DB group, is promoted to lead all press and media relations -- a role that includes acting as Ackermann's special PR adviser and spokesman.
He replaces Dierk Hartwig, who retires after five years in the role. Ackermann succeeds outgoing chairman Rolf Breuer.
Pincombe, who will continue to be based in London, confirmed he is to review DB's global press and media department, which comprises more than 70 staff.
Pincombe said: 'Deutsche Bank is a very big institution and we need to better coordinate the press activities of all the divisions within the group. At the moment we have a very fragmented press and media structure, particularly on the wealth management side, and the challenge is to create one effective press and media function for the group.'
Pincombe will effectively remain in his previous role, assuming additional responsibilities for press and media covering DB's private client and asset management arm.
Pincombe formerly worked as UBS head of press and media for Europe.
He also previously worked for 18 years as a journalist, latterly as The Independent's business news editor.
