SAN FRANCISCO: Investment management firm Dodge & Cox has hired Prudential Financial’s Scot Hoffman as director of communications.
The newly created, San Francisco-based role is focused on client and shareholder communications, investment commentaries and insight papers, and media relations, he said, adding that the company has no plans to begin consumer-focused outreach.
"Dodge & Cox has a long-standing practice of not conducting traditional marketing or advertising campaigns, and we have no plans to change this approach," Hoffman said via email.
The firm was managing more than $300 billion in assets as of the end of July, it said in a statement. It focuses on providing U.S., global, and international equity, fixed income, and balanced account management.
Previously, Hoffman was head of corporate communications at Prudential Financial for five years, exiting the company at the start of July, according to a Prudential spokesperson. In early 2015, Prudential rolled up its communications and marketing operations under Colin McConnell, who took on the role of chief brand officer.
Prior to joining Prudential Financial, Hoffman was a principal at RLM Finsbury, EVP at Robinson Lerer & Montgomery, and SVP at Financial Dynamics, according to his LinkedIn profile.
