The clip was posted on Twitter via the handle @UnderTheBed2017 and appears to show a cute creature hidden in the dark, with only its eyes visible.
The clip ends with the hashtag #UnderTheBed, which has prompted Twitter users to speculate whether this is a teaser for the 2017 John Lewis Christmas campaign.
One user tweeted: "Speculation is rife... is this a peek? #JohnLewisAd." Another said: "Think it's a teaser for the John Lewis advert."
Another person said a promoted ad appeared in their Twitter feed with the #UnderTheBed hashtag (see below).
A spokeswoman for John Lewis told PRWeek the retailer did not comment on speculation about its Christmas campaign.
In previous years, speculation has also peaked ahead of the official campaign launch. In 2015 a mysterious Twitter profile with a 10-second clip was a teaser for the Man on the Moon campaign.
Last year, a clip appeared with the hashtag #BounceBounce – a teaser for the 2016 'Buster the Boxer' John Lewis campaign.
