He has advised clients including Lloyd’s of London, Barclays Wealth, Nasdaq, the European Banking Authority, Credit Suisse Asset Management, St James’s Place, BNY Mellon and HSBC.

Buchanan employs around 40 people in the City of London. In addition to the corporate offer, it operates across financial comms, investor and analyst relations, b2b PR,and b2c comms through its Quill brand, which it acquired in 2011.

Bobby Morse, senior partner at Buchanan, said: "The strengthening of our corporate communications offering through the appointment of Alex is a significant step for Buchanan in building upon our broad offering in the financial services sector.

"His knowledge of the sector, and the contacts he has built during his prolific career, provide Buchanan with an excellent springboard to growing our presence in this highly sophisticated and fast-growing industry."

Buchanan was also recently one of several agencies to hire high-ranking former Bell Pottinger staff.
