Peaks picks up work for Pebble Labs, Harvest Exchange

The firm was founded in 2016 by Thomas Walek.

NEW YORK: Peaks Strategies has signed five clients this year, including biotechnology company Pebble Labs.

Since its founding in 2016, Peaks has signed nine clients. This year, Harvest Exchange, Rotation Capital, Synova Power, and Data Management Working Group for the Alternatives Industry also joined its agency roster.

Peaks is helping to build visibility for Harvest Exchange’s brand and products by positioning it as a thought leader in financial services through content marketing. The work is a step outside founder Thomas Walek’s usual specialties in asset management PR and traditional media relations.

The firm is entering what Walek called its "second stage."

"The first stage is where you get business. You get clients, and there’s not a lot of infrastructure needed," Walek said. "The second stage is the point where you get to ‘have a business’ with some infrastructure, and you build that out."

The firm has financial services and sustainability clients using earned media, traditional PR, content marketing, thought leadership, and owned media strategies.

Walek founded Peaks in 2016 after leaving Peppercomm. He previously ran Walek & Associates before Peppercomm acquired it in 2013.

"I built a firm and sold it, and then you go back into it and have to keep in mind that you can’t build the same business," Walek said. "The market has changed, the PR business has changed, and I’ve changed—and hopefully I’ve become smarter, too."
