MINNEAPOLIS: General Mills veteran Lisa Tomassen has rejoined Exponent PR to lead its retail and CPG practice.
Tomassen is reporting to Exponent MD Tom Lindell.
Although the role is new, some of its responsibilities were previously handled by Bernice Neumann, who was Exponent’s practice leader for food and nutrition before stepping into the role of senior counselor in June.
Tomassen is responsible for lining up new business opportunities for Exponent. She explained that her long-term vision is providing a "high-level strategy and channel-agnostic perspective."
"Bringing my experience from retail and CPG with my nearly eight years at General Mills, I am helping the [Exponent] team continue to innovate and dive deep into who the target consumers are and think about what influencer marketing and PR, and also broader marketing comms in a mobile-first capacity, can bring to our clients’ businesses," said Tomassen.
Tomassen, who rejoined Exponent in late August, previously worked in various roles at General Mills, most recently as marketing communications manager. She was responsible for developing campaigns for brands including Pillsbury, Betty Crocker, Lucky Charms, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Cheerios, and Nature Valley, according to a statement from Exponent.
Prior to General Mills, Tomassen was a counselor in the consumer and food practice groups at Exponent for five years. General Mills was an Exponent client during her previous stint at the firm, and when Tomassen moved to General Mills, she worked with Exponent from the client side. General Mills is no longer an Exponent client, she said.
Exponent posted 2016 revenue of $12.5 million, up 6% from the prior year, according to PRWeek’s Agency Business Report.
