The topic of flexible working usually sparks a good deal of debate among PR professionals, with agencies chiefs trying to balance meeting client demands with not burning their staff out. Earlier this week FleishmanHillard Fishburn became the latest agency to rejig its working culture, scrapping the nine-to-five working day in the process.
Yet while the prospect of flexible working is nothing more than a distant dream for some, others are afforded this perk on a weekly basis. Assuming, that is, nothing crops up the requires immediate attention:
We finish at 4pm every Friday @radioactive_pr, unless there's something that crops up and *needs* staying behind for.— Rich Leigh (@RichLeighPR) September 15, 2017
@ManifestLDN we finish every week at 4pm - no need to scoot anywhere.— Elly Barham Marsh (@Avionpapier) September 15, 2017
We're proud to say that every Friday is a 4pm finish for our ???? team of 17! #AgentHQ— Agent (@Agent_Marketing) September 15, 2017
For others the #4pmFinish could be a welcome one-off:
Elsewhere people are mourning the end of British summertime:
I guess our Summer Friday's put us ahead of the game!!! #4pmFinish RIP BST— The PR Office (@ThePROffice) September 15, 2017
Did someone say 'mass exodus'?:
One day is not enough for some:
Ready10, meanwhile, reckons the whole thing is childish:
We prefer a #TreatPeopleLikeGrownUpsDay which happens every day. Think of colleagues & clients, go when you need to— David Fraser (@DavidEFraser) September 15, 2017
...unlike agency MD Rhodri Harries, who suggest that #4pmFinish is associated with #hugyourbossday:
And finally, do spare a thought for the team at Walsall Clinical Commissioning Group who may not be so lucky today. Either that or they're just big fans of Forrest Gump memes (who isn't, tbf):
