Webb set to quit Consolidated for Halifax esure arm

The direct selling insurance arm of the Halifax, esure, has appointed Adrian Webb to the newly created position of head of external comms.

Webb joins esure later this month from Consolidated Communications where he has been media strategy director for 18 months. Prior to that, Webb spent 18 months at Virgin One, Virgin's mortgage and banking arm, where he was head of comms.

The move to esure will reunite Webb with Peter Wood, his previous employer at Direct Line. Webb spent five years at Direct Line and was made head of PR by Wood.

His role at esure will be to ensure that PR 'integrates with the company's marketing strategy', as well as to help build the company's customer base and credibility.

Webb will report directly to CEO Peter Graham. esure retains The Wriglesworth Consultancy and it is understood the agency will continue to be responsible for personal finance-focused consumer PR.

esure was set up as part of the Halifax Group in 2000 and started trading in July 2001.

It sells car and home insurance.
