Fletcher, who starts in September, will advise clients on political and regulatory issues as part of broader corporate reputation programmes, working alongside Citypress' media advisory team.

At Cohn & Wolfe, Fletcher advised international brands across sectors including financial services, food and drink, supply chain, extractive industries and manufacturing.

Citypress, a PRWeek UK Best Places to Work winner 2017, is headquartered in Manchester and has offices in five UK cities. It said the hire was "part of its ongoing strategy to build additional specialisms around its core consultancy services".

Patrick Tooher, who leads Citypress’ strategic media communications practice, said: "Rory’s political advisory skills, experience and knowledge of Whitehall and Holyrood adds an important, extra dimension."

Fletcher, who joined Cohn & Wolfe in 2013 as an account director, said: "It’s an exciting time to be joining the agency and an interesting time in politics. Now more than ever brands are looking for specialist guidance on the changing landscape and its impacts on their business."

Other recent recruits at Citypress includ former Ipsos Mori associate director Eze Klass, who joined its research and analytics practice, and former ITN and ITV journalist and producer Rachel Mairs, who joined to expand the agency’s broadcast capabilities.

Citypress clients include Lloyds Banking Group, Coca Cola, Aldi and British Gas.
