INTERNATIONAL: Fink & Fuchs wins Sony Ericsson work

WIESBADEN: Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications (SEMC) Germany has handed its product, brand and corporate comms to Fink & Fuchs Public Relations.

The Wiesbaden-based agency is to help boost Ericsson and Sony's joint mobile venture to the top of the mobile multimedia product market in Germany.

Fink & Fuchs is working with Myriam Hoffmann, who has handled press work for Sony Ericsson since January.

The agency was appointed last year to handle PR for Sony in Germany, and the Wiesbaden team has overseen comms surrounding the company's games console PlayStation for three-and-a-half-years.

When it launched in October 2001, Sony Ericsson announced that it wanted to be number one in the mobile multimedia product market within five years. SEMC is reshaping itself to achieve this aim.

'Ericsson's technical expertise in the telecommunications and mobile communications market and the brand know-how of Sony complement each other perfectly,' says Finks & Fuchs chairman Stephan Fink.

Ericsson is searching for a global comms chief, following the announcement last year that Roland Klein is leaving this year to found a corporate consultancy with DaimlerChrysler PR head Christoph Walther (PRWeek, 9 November 2001). Klein said he would remain as Ericsson's global corporate comms head until a successor is found.
