PUBLIC SECT0R: Family court body CAFCASS in head of comms search

The Government's streamlined family court service is looking to put in place its first communications team.

The Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service (CAFCASS), created less than a year ago, is now on the hunt for its first head of comms to lead all communications work.

The postholder will report directly to the body's CEO, currently filled in an acting capacity by Jonathan Tross.

So far the interim team, which has been in place since last year, has been engaged in internal comms work, communicating to the body's 2,000 advisers across the UK.

The head of communications is tasked with building the first PR team and developing media relations campaigns.

The interim team includes consultant Maria Darby as acting head of comms.

CAFCASS was created in April last year to advise the courts on practice for dealing with children in adoption, care and contested residency cases.
