Thomson Financial reveals PR line-up

Financial information and technology service provider Thomson Financial has unveiled its global PR line-up following a restructure.

Heads for Thomson Financial's Europe and US communications operations have been named, and a first London PR team has been created.

The review forms part of a wider company restructure to realign the business away from a product orientation and into four core strategic customer units - investment banking, investment management, corporate and wealth management.

The firm's centralised marketing communications function now comprises 20 people in Europe, 50 in the US and ten in Asia - with two dedicated PROs in Europe and six in the US.

The group has appointed former Mantra account director Alex Brog as its first PR director for Europe, initially on a freelance basis with a view to making the role permanent.

'Thomson Financial has been restructured to align itself more to consumer needs and centralised certain functions, of which communications is one, in order to take a more co-ordinated approach,' said Brog.

Thomson created a dedicated London comms team after deciding to take the bulk of its PR in-house last year, axing the now defunct IR and technology agency Anderson Soames Communications (PRWeek, 7 December 2001).
