Publicity director role for Redwood PR boss McDonald

Omnicom-owned firm Redwood Publishing's head of PR has been promoted to the newly created role of publicity director.

Penny McDonald will retain her job as group editor-in-chief on Sky Customer Magazine, which she launched as editor seven years ago, as well as her place on Redwood's 'creative board'.

'I will have a pivotal role in a new area of growth,' said McDonald. 'It will be more strategic thinking: targeting PR activity, as opposed to reacting to things.'

McDonald joined Redwood a year ago after 13 years with the Telegraph Group as TV and radio editor for The Daily and Sunday Telegraph.

The company has carved a niche as a publisher of customer titles for retailers including Marks & Spencer, Safeway and Boots.
