Corus formerly employed a network of freelance PROs and agencies to handle PR for each division, including Corus Systems and Corus Rail.
But the group, created by the 1999 merger of British Steel and Dutch group Koninklijke Hoogovens, decided it needed one central agency to help 'improve the impact' of its communications campaigns.
Corus head of company comms Helen Williams, to whom the Biss Lancaster team reports, said: 'The construction market is worth £2.2bn to Corus and is a key industry sector.'
Biss won the work after a three-way pitch at the end of last month. Its three-strong account team, headed by director Belinda Taylor will concentrate on the UK for the first six months, before working in The Netherlands, Germany, France and Scandinavia.
Biss previously handled two separate accounts for Corus, overseeing PR for Space, the design packaging unit launched last year, and since 1989, the Young Architect of the Year award.
