DIARY: PRO partner aids Maitland's Eurovision efforts

TV presenter Jonathan Maitland's efforts to become Britain's entrant in the Eurovision Song Contest are being helped by the lobbying efforts of his PRO partner.

Unfortunately, the fact Maitland has worked on investigative shows such as ITV1's House of Horrors and Tonight with Trevor McDonald mean the identity of both partner and agency cannot be revealed for security reasons.

Maitland, who plays guitar in 'crap wedding band' Surf'n'Turf, embarked on the project as a publicity stunt for his latest book, which tells the tale of a Eurovision wannabe.

Now Maitland has reached the last four of UK entry wannabes for this year's competition - won last year by Estonian warblers Tanel Badar and Dave Benton - the lobbying effort from both the PR firm and Maitland's partner is set to intensify.

Whether this is the first instance of an agency developing a communications strategy embracing a healthy dose of block telephone voting, we leave readers to decide.
