In this world of 24/7 always-on media, I can’t think of many more challenging or rewarding assignments than running General Motors communications, and I can’t think of anyone better to do so than Tony Cervone.
I’ve had the privilege of working with Tony on my team since May 2014. I’ve seen his coolness in crisis, ability to make the complex simple, and, above all, strategic vision to help take our company to the next level.
This latter point is what sets Tony apart. It’s one thing to be a great storyteller and creative thinker. It’s another to combine leading-edge communication skills with top-notch business acumen to become a trusted adviser to the entire C-suite and beyond, which is exactly what Tony has become.
While excelling at the top of his profession is important, another of Tony’s impressive traits is his genuine focus on others.
He is quick to credit the mentorship of those who came before him, most notably another valued colleague of ours, Steve Harris. Tony also loves to mentor young people and learn as much from them as they do from him. It’s his way of giving back.
As GM strives to lead the future of personal mobility, we are lucky to have a consummate professional such as Tony to help us achieve this vision and more.
