New managing partner at Newgate
Newgate Communications has promoted Rebecca Eatwell to the role of managing partner and head of the Newgate Engage, its newly created local stakeholder engagement offering. It follows the departure of Andy Martin, who joined the company in 2010 and formerly worked at Trimedia. Eatwell had joined PPS, which was later acquired by Newgate, in 2007.
Smarts wins County Hall account
Smarts Communicate London, the London arm of Belfast-based PR and content agency Smarts Communicate, has won a brief with London Marriott Hotel County Hall. The PR and content account was awarded after a competitive four-way pitch, and follows a multi-million-pound renovation of the venue in 2016. Smarts is to deliver integrated consumer campaigns, influencer outreach and media relations, the agency said. The account was previously held by Four Travel.
Pitch appoints head of production
Sports and entertainment agency Pitch has appointed Lee Cheney as head of production. He will lead the agency’s in-house content division, Pitch Productions, and will be responsible for its overall creative direction, logistics and strategy. Before joining Pitch in May, Cheney was a freelance executive producer and director, working for agencies including Saatchi & Saatchi, Hill+Knowlton Strategis, and TVC Group, he said.
Hudson Sandler helps list goldminer
Hudson Sandler is handling the London IPO of Russia’s biggest gold mine group Polyus, billed as the largest proposed UK listing announced so far this year. Polyus, an existing global client of Hudson Sandler, is listed on the Moscow Exchange with a market capitalisation of $9.9 billion (£7.7bn) and hopes to raise $400m (£309.8m) from floating on the London Stock Exchange. The firm was listed on the LSE until 2015, when it delisted after Western sanctions were imposed over Russia’s intervention in Ukraine.
Social Chain to push skin product
Beauty supplement brand Advanced Nutrition Programme has appointed influencer agency Social Chain to run a campaign promoting its problematic skin brand Skin Accumax to an 18-25 audience. The much heralded influencer agency itself took on a PR agency to raise its profile in April.
Renewable win for Dirt & Glory
London's Dirt & Glory Media has been appointed to run comms, social media and editorial content for renewable energy supplier Tonik Energy. The agency is tasked with communicating the brand's goal of using technology and data to halve customers' bills by 2022.
ResponseSource buys JournoRequests
Media request service ResponseSource has acquired JournoRequests. JournoRequests, which also offers a service that matches journalists with PR professionals, was founded two years ago. ResponseSource was set up in 1998 and is forecast to distribute more than 31,000 requests from journalists in the UK this year. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Pelican hired by BAMA
The British Aerosol Manufacturers' Association has appointed Pelican Communications, an agency specialising in the packaging sector, to assist its communications programme. It will work to promote the aerosol packaging format, safety standards and good manufacturing practice.
