INTERNATIONAL: Germany records six per cent growth in 2001 PR market

HAMBURG: The German PR market grew by more than six per cent last year compared to figures for 2000, according to PRWeek's sister magazine PR Report.

The 200 agencies listed in PR Report's ranking banked a combined total of £271.1m in fees - an increase of more than £15.4m on 2000.

Kohtes Klewes parent firm The European Communications Consultants, headed by Gregor Schonborn, maintained its position in the top slot, increasing its turnover by six per cent to £20.6m, excluding subsidiary ECC Publico.

A newcomer in second place with £12m in fees is Weber Shandwick, which merged with BSMG Worldwide in October last year.

Third place went to last year's runners-up, Trimedia Communications.

The largest leap was made by Fleishman-Hillard, which grew 61 per cent, leaping 11 places since last year to tenth place.
