PPS brand folded into Newgate
Porta-owned public affairs firm PPS is now fully integrated into sister firm Newgate Communications, with the 27-year-old PPS brand being scrapped. PPS was acquired in late 2014 for £6.2m. PPS had around 40 staff; Newgate's UK business now has around 90 staff after the integration. PPS founder Stephen Byfield and managing partner Andy Martin remain. Martin is now in charge of the the new local stakeholder engagement offering Newgate Engage, based in part out of former PPS offices in Bristol, Cardiff, Manchester and Edinburgh. Major Newgate clients include insurer Sompo, and onshore energy trade body UKOOG.
Talker Tailor checks in with St Giles
Talker Tailor Trouble Maker, one of PRWeek's new agencies to watch in 2017, has been appointed by hotelier Abigail Tan-Giroud and nine-location business St Giles Hotel. The agency will focus on comms, stunts and brand partnerships, kicking off with what it calls a "street art uniform collaboration", to be unveiled this month. The account is worth a six-figure annual fee.
ICC Wales hires davies tanner
Travel, tourism and events PR agency davies tanner has secured a three-year contract to launch the forthcoming £83.7million International Convention Centre Wales, after a five-way pitch. The ICC Wales is based 20 miles east of Cardiff. The agency said it would "harness its influencer networks and industry connections both in the UK and overseas to build a progressive launch campaign designed to reach a global audience of event planners and organisers of large-scale conventions".
MCG gets teeth into tofu brief
New tofu brand, The Tofoo Co, has appointed Leeds and London agency MCG to handle its PR and social media launch with an integrated campaign of social advertising and organic engagement, influencer and media relations, content creation and experiential activity. Tofoo aims to become the UK's number one tofu brand and the number two meat-free brand overall by 2019.

London's Margaret_ has been appointed as the external comms agency for Soho photography organisation and exhibition space The Photographers' Gallery.
8848 works on darts star deal
Staffordshire-based 8848 has been appointed by garage network Servicesure Autocentres to assist with delivering a sponsorship and brand ambassador contract with world number three darts player Peter Wright.
