MEDIA: Mirror increases staff and content in paper rebrand

Tabloid daily The Mirror has announced a raft of editorial changes as the paper sheds its red-top masthead and rebrands under its original name, the Daily Mirror.

Mirror bosses this week unveiled its new-look masthead and editorial line-up as part of a plan to boost circulation and attract younger readers.

It will now feature a new healthcare section in its M supplement every Thursday.

The Saturday paper's redesign sees the launch of a Review section alongside a boost to racing coverage in new supplement The Winner. Saturday's Look magazine also has an added emphasis on TV listings, reviews and gossip.

Other changes include the relaunch of The Cassandra column and the introduction of an entertainment pull-out, The Ticket, every Friday.

Evening Standard columnist Matthew Norman joins in the same role, The Times's sports commentator Oliver Holt moves to become chief sports writer and John Pilger returns as a full-time writer.
