PUBLIC SECT0R: Comms review is underway for NHS body in Shetland

Shetland NHS Board has commenced an internal and external review of its comms functions. It has taken on Edinburgh-based consultancy Pagoda Public Relations to launch the review, sponsored by the Strategic Change Unit of the Scottish Executive Health Department.

There is no in-house PR facility at the health authority, which serves communities across 14 islands. Comms issues are principally handled by the body's CEO and the director of public health.

The review is expected to last one month, and will involve focus groups, and interviews with staff and opinion-formers. The review comes as part of the Executive's 'Our National Health' plan, aimed at improving communication and partnership between the health services and the communities they serve.

The review will be overseen by senior consultant Jason Wassell and Pagoda MD Ian Coldwell.
