Newgate hires another ex-spad
Porta-owned Newgate Communications has appointed former Conservative special adviser Siân Jones to its public affairs practice. South Wales-born Jones served as a spad to Chancellor Philip Hammond when he was Transport Secretary and Defence Secretary during the Coalition Government. She also worked for the party's headquarters, and as a business journalist. She will be primarily based in Cardiff. It follows the public affairs practice's hire of another former spad with Wales Office experience, and the appointment of MWW's Simon Gentry as a partner, in the Autumn.
Cow wins Micro Scooters brief
Cow has been appointed as the retainer UK PR agency for Micro Scooters. Cow has been tasked with a dual remit: to further cement the brand’s reputation for quality and design, as well as creating a deeper emotional connection with consumers by supporting its 'Made For Adventure' ethos. The team will be headed up by Gloria Trapezaris, director, and Matt Wilcock, creative director at Cow.
Trio of energy briefs for FTI
FTI Consulting's energy team has won three new corporate and financial comms clients. It has begun work with Green Dragon Gas, an independent producer and distributor of coal bed methane in China, challenger UK exploration company Upland Resources, and AIM-listed Northern Petroleum, an exploration and production company with significant interests in Canada and Italy.
Mercieca has its Weetabix as a new client
Camden-based integrated agency Mercieca has been briefed to manage Weetabix's corporate and trade PR and its trade media advertising. Previous agencies to work with the cereal brand, whose parent firm The Weetabix Food Company also owns Alpen, Weetos and Ready Brek, include Good Relations, Frank and Cake.
Two new wins for PHA Media
PHA Media has been appointed by two new clients - property sales progress tool View My Chain, and iCoolKid, an online and social media publishing and production tool. PHA will work closely with View My Chain’s internal team to persuade estate agents across the UK to use View My Chain software, while with iCoolKid it will target eight to 15-year olds in an attempt to bring them to its website, YouTube channel, Spotify platforms and other properties. The latter is a global account.
Financial wins for MacComms
Leeds-based PR firm MacComms has been appointed by merchant services firm Yorkshire Payments and Investing For Tomorrow, a financial adviser based in Halifax.
