Tinder comms chief Hermione Way swipes right on blockchain dating start-up Matchpool

Hermione Way, former European head of comms at Tinder, has joined blockchain-based start-up dating network Matchpool as a communications advisor.

Way will take up the new role, handling global comms, after Matchpool's next round of funding closes later this month.

She will report to founder Yonatan Ben Shimon, who says Way will help to "build our strategy to disrupt dating on a global scale".

Prior to joining Tinder in 2015, Way founded PR and marketing agency WayMedia in January 2014. Way told PRWeek she is longer active in the business.

Matchpool, which is then expected to launch later this year, allows anyone to sign up and create or join dating communities. Users can then make matches with likeminded people and invite members to join their communities, and participation is encouraged via the platform's Bitcoin token system, whereby matchmakers earn tokens for successful matches.

Matchpool also works with PR firm Transform, which handles comms exclusively for Bitcoin start-ups.
