Influential, effective, impactful — just a few of the words that have been used to describe Ray Kerins’ career and personal endeavors.
At his day job, Kerins manages all communications, government relations, and policy for Bayer and its principal businesses. He also serves as chairman of the company’s PAC and is executive sponsor for two Bayer employee groups: Blend, the global resource for Bayer’s LGBT employees and supporters, and Bayer Resources for Armed Forces Veteran Employees (BRAVE). Under his leadership, both groups have grown in size and community outreach activities.
Last year, Kerins led the opposition, on behalf of Bayer, to the so-called anti-LGBT law in North Carolina, which would have sanctioned discrimination against LGBT people and prohibited transgender people from using bathrooms of their choice. Kerins appeared on CNBC to speak out on the issue, calling for dialogue and tolerance.
Additionally, Kerins has been a contributing member of the CDC corporate roundtable on global health threats and an adviser to the CDC Foundation board of directors, which connects the public health body with private-sector organizations and individuals to build programs that make the world healthy and safe. Because of Kerins’ longstanding involvement with the CDC, Bayer led corporate efforts against the Zika virus.
He sits on the board of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and its global intellectual property center, for which he leads a coalition of global companies to advance IP policy as chairman of a Global Intellectual Property Center engagement task force.
Kerins was named to PRWeek’s and sister title MM&M?’s inaugural Health Influencer 50 list in October 2016. Back in 2010, he was also PRWeek’s PR Professional of the Year.
"Ray is an excellent leader who has demonstrated a strategic and innovative approach to comms," one judge said.
