As well as his role at Newington, Law continues his position as comms director for start-up Hydra Strategy.

Law was previously in an in-house role - as director of corporate affairs at Barratt Developments - for nearly a decade.

His role involved recovering the company’s reputation following a period of turbulence in the housing market.

Before this, Law held roles in the energy sector – as director of communications at British Gas and director of public affairs at Centrica.

At Newington, Law will provide consultancy services and strategic counsel to the agency’s clients.

He said: "Having successfully delivered corporate communications strategies for some of the biggest firms in the UK, I’m looking forward to supporting Newington’s clients [to] engage effectively with politicians, media, shareholders and employees."

In August last year, public and corporate affairs agency Bellenden rebranded as Newington Communications and moved to its new London offices in Southwark.

The following month, Italian firm SEC bought a majority stake in the agency and moved its international headquarters to Newington’s new building.

The deal involved a completion cash payment of £1.2m and a further cash payment of £175,000, and two further earnings-based payments to be made later.
