MEDIA: Telewest revamps blueyonder.co.uk in home-user push

Telewest Broadband has relaunched its website for home users with news, travel, money and health channels given greater prominence.

Telewest believes it can retain 'dial-up' customers of its blueyonder ISP - as opposed to broadband internet users, who have their own site - with the promise of improved content.

The company hopes to double the 50,000 unique visitors to blueyonder.co.uk.

A spokesman said: 'The content wasn't strong enough. We went to consumers and asked them what they wanted. We are trying to give them enough content so they come back.'

Entertainment and music content will also be included.

GuardianUnlimited will supply some content, while navigation has been improved on the narrowband site, the spokesman added: 'The dial-up customer may not be as savvy as the broadband user. And local news is one of the most important elements because the company is regionally-based.'
